Song of the Day - Camel Clutch

Zletovsko - Camel Clutch from Zletovsko (2013)

I typed in Camel Clutch into Spotify and found this song by the Japanese "zheul" band, Zletovsko!

Very reminiscent of another experimental Japanese band, Sax Ruins; a saxophone side project of Ruins.

Song of the Day - Easter Woman

The Residents - Easter Woman from The Commercial Album (1980)

Happy Easter!

Doesn't really have anything to do with Easter...

But I love The Commercial Album.

Song of the Day - Spring Into Winter

Black Eyes - Spring Into Winter from Cough (2004)

It's the first day of Spring and I got out of three classes this morning due to the snow storm last night...

*Insert witty Maine joke here*

PS: I still regret not grabbing this album by the former Washington, DC no-wave avantcore outfit, Black Eyes when I saw it in a local record store tucked away in the hip-hop section.

Song of the Day - Arboreal Gallows (Mandagora I)

Botanist - Arboreal Gallows (Mandragora I) from IV: Mandragora (2013)

Some kind of black metal about plants using only drums and a dulcimer by a guy named Otrebor . At first it sounds like a guy with an electrical voice box banging on metal and a marching snare drum, but it gets enjoyable in a weird way once you listen to it a few more times.

Or don't. I don't care.

Song of the Day - Avantcore

Busdriver - Avantcore from Fear of a Black Tangent (2005)

Just noticed today that Busdriver's "Avantcore" samples "Turtles Have Short Legs" by Can - a very 'avantcore' song in its own right.

Song of the Day - Rocket Number Nine

Sun Ra - Rocket Number Nine from Space is the Place (1973)

I watched a lot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 today.

And nothing much else.

Song of the Day - Tobacco's Accidental Crash With The Girl From Sisela

Tobacco - Tobacco's Accidental Crash With The Girl From Sisela from Don't Deny Your Weakness (2000)

Here's a little find I uncovered the other night from the German Tobacco, not to be confused with Tom Fec's Black Moth Super Rainbow solo/side project of the same name.

I'd explain the song but there's a voice in the beginning that does it for me.

Song of the Day - Funnel Head

The Chewers - Funnel Head from Chuckle Change and Also (2012)

Found this band's info and links to their music in my Spam mail today. Good thing I decided to look there today or I probably would have never heard of this "deliberately off-kilter" two-man group out of West Virginia.

Thanks to Travis for Emailing me this! Very interesting stuff that'll most likely be featured on my next Monday post! Stay tuned!
