An Anderson - Karen is My Middle Name from Parts (2013)
An Anderson is too good and Parts is probably my favorite local thing going right now! I know I've been posting a lot of local stuff as of late but this is really important!
PS These gentlemen will be playing at Phantom Buffalo's new full-length release party at The Space Gallery on Congress Street this Thursday! Rumor has it that double A will be selling some pretty sweet prints of the album artwork there, as well!

Match of the Day - Santino's cross-dressing alter ego, Miss Piggie, & a big pile of shit
Santina Marella vs. Vickie & Chavo Guerrero - Handicap Hog Pen match for the title of Miss Wrestlemania - WWE Extreme Rules (2009)
Get a load of this shit:
I don't know where to start with this match. I mean, it's got Santino Marella in drag as his "twin sister" Santina taking on Vickie Guerrero who somehow won a Miss Wrestlemania (during some 'Mania filler I must have missed while taking a bathroom break) with the help of her nephew, Chavo in his "nice" clothes. Oh yeah, and there's a hog pen full of shit. And I'm not just taking about this match or The King's constant botching beforehand either.
While the first hog pen match featuring the Connecticut Blue Blood, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Henry Orpheus Godwinn - whose initials cleverly make out the word HOG - started in the ring and eventually made its way to the pig sty where the loser was whoever got thrown in first, most hog pen matches today are placed next to the stage and start and finish in the pen.
So yeah.. It's a pretty shitty match.

Song of the Day - I Cry (K.Y.)
Nasty Negligee - I Cry (K.Y.) from Level 3 (2012)
Despite closing for a very mixed bag of local acts and a touring band as eardrum shattering as Host, Sterling Black and the rest of the gang put on a fine performance yesterday for their Sunday matinee punk show in Portland.
Too bad everyone left to go to work or to church or wherever/whatever people do after 6 o'clock on Sundays...

Match of the Day - Owen Hart fights Ken Shamrock in his own house!
Owen Hart vs. Ken Shamrock - Stu Hart's Dungeon match - WWF Fully Loaded: In Your House (1998)
The Black Hart takes on The World's Most Dangerous Man in the closest thing to home field advantage in this 1998 gem from Fully Loaded. Not only was this match held in Stu Hart's "Dungeon" where many great superstars learned the way of wrestling, it was also a submission match featuring the referee duties of Dan Severn just to add to the uniqueness of this forgotten match.
Wrestling fans always heard about this Dungeon, but few had ever seen it. Turns out this training facility once operated by the Hart family was just a basement with a tarp over the ground. Guess all those stories about how tough and enduring the Dungeon was - adding in the Stu Hart screaming in your face factor - were pretty accurate.

Theme of the Week - Non-ring matches!
This weeks theme involves matches that are not contested in the confines of the squared-circle known as a wrestling ring.
Matches where the competitors wrestle to get back in the ring or start in the ring and eventually get out of the ring and wrestler elsewhere do not count.
Enjoy!

Match of the Day - Spring Break-Out w/ Rey Mysterio & Ric Flair!
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Ric Flair - World Heavyweight title match - WCW Nitro Spring Break-Out (1999)
What better way to kick off my Spring Break then with a little blast from the past featuring Ric Flair taking on the unmasked Rey Mysterio Jr. in Rey Rey's first World Heavyweight title shot (according to Michael Buffer) at WCW's coverage of Monday Night Nitro at Panama City Beach, Florida for their annual Spring Break-Out special. AKA the WCW with the swimming pool around the ring!
This match isn't so much a blast from the past as much as it just reminds me of how much MTV and other teenager-friendly channels on TV used to broadcast Spring Break related events like this one at Club La Vela.
