Eddie Guerrero vs. Ric Flair - King of the Ring (2002)

Only about a month before Eddie Guerrero took on The Rock in a match that has now been regarded as a "dream match that actually happened", Guerrero took on another wrestling for the first in WWE in the form of the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. It wasn't the first time that the two had wrestled before, they

 actually put on pretty good matches in their WCW days together, but this is the first and only time that these two masters of the ring squared off against each other in WWE.

What made this match so enjoyable has to be the different styles that Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair brought to the table. Flair, being the ring psychology veteran taking on Guerrero, a quicker and high-flying-based wrestler. I would argue that this difference of styles really echos the days of Flair vs. Steamboat which many consider the greatest rivalry of all time. Flair/Guerrero might not have any six star matches, but I think it's worth watching their matches if you are a fan of pure wrestling a la Flair/Steamboat.

Match of the Day - Eddie Guerrero takes on Super Crazy at the first ROH show

Eddie Guerrero vs. Super Crazy - ROH The Era of Honor Begins (2002)

The late great Eddie Guerrero wrestled the "Insane Luchadore" Super Crazy at ROH's inaugural show, The Era of Honor Begins. This match was the finals for the Puerta Rican promotion, IWA's Intercontinental Championship tournament to crown the first-ever champ - as well as the first time these two crafty individuals had wrestled each other in the US.

It's a match of firsts.

Match of the Day - Eddie Guerrero challenges his nephew to a hair vs. hair match

Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. - Hair vs. Hair match - WCW/nWo Bash at the Beach (1998)

Eddie and Chavo had quite the relationship in wrestling to say the least. It seemed whenever they were together they were either winning titles as a well tandem tag team or slugging it out. While Eddie Guerrero was Chavo's uncle, their bond, and rivalry for that matter, was much more like a brotherly one. It probably didn't help either that the two were only 3 years apart in age and had been wrestling each other (in front of wrestling crowds during intermission) since they were kids.

This particular match between the two Guerrero's in WCW is one of their best. In the video above, the match doesn't start until after Chavo Guerrero wrestlers Stevie Ray of the Harlem Heat. It might seem strange that Chavo would have to fight two matches in a row, not to mention a large competitor like Stevie Ray first, but this was all part of Uncle Eddie's plan to wear down his nephew for before the official match. The official match was no ordinary match either, it was a hair vs. hair - a stipulation Eddie was no stranger to as he had been on the losing end of such a gambling match back in AAA with Los Gringos Locos. Match of the Day - Eddie Guerrero's final match

Eddie Guerrero vs. Mr Kennedy - Smackdown! (2005)

This is Eddie Guerrero's last match which aired three days before his death on my birthday, November 13th, 2005. Unknowingly to anyone, Guerrero would wrestle his swan song against Mr. Ken Kennedy where the Latino Heat pulled off his classic "lie, cheat, and steal" diversions to pick up his last win.

I'm not going to dwell on the whole Rey Myserio main event push because of Eddie dying storyline that transpired sometime after the news got out, but I will say that I am mighty glad that they dropped that terrible "I'm Dominick's real father, Rey" storyline and turned Eddie back into a crowd favorite before it was too late and things ended on a sour note. It is a shame that Eddie's life had to come to an abrupt end so soon after recovering from his real-life demons none-the-less.
